Life in the South

Here we are safe and sound from the rain and floods. The sun is actually shining today after almost a week of rain!

We are continuing our study of the Southeast which has brought up the issues of slavery and civil rights. I figure as long as we're living in this part of the country, we'll take advantage of learning its rich history (however ugly). I feel myself tempted to linger on each state for more than a week--there is so much to study from history to weather, people, and culture. But we're already on schedule to finish this study well into fourth grade. We will tire by then, so we'll keep plugging along now. So on to Florida we dipped this week.

By the way, we haven't heard anything lately from Felicity's visits to Kansas and New Jersey, but we have had some requests for her to visit other places. Grammy, in particular, is having a lot of fun with our paper doll--I heard they went bowling yesterday!
