Felicity's Tour, Take Two
I was grateful to discover our blog we haven't visited in four years still exists! Unfortunately, Rachel and I never finished our virtual tour project, due to her transfer from home- to public school. So I get a re-do, this time with Rebekah who is doing 2nd grade at home. Surprisingly, Rebekah chose the same name for her paper doll as Rachel did several years ago! So our blog essentially remains the same, as we make a new start to see if "Felicity" can make it to each of the fifty states.

Shifting Gears
A lot has changed for the Miller family since the last post. We are indeed shifting gears as we enter a new year in a new state (back "home" in Pennsylvania!), at a new church, in a new home, and with the anticipation of a new member of the family in June!
With the activity of moving, not to mention the Christmas season, we have officially taken the month of December off from schooling. However, we are always learning, right? We enjoyed our trip through several of the states we have studied this fall--starting in Georgia to South Carolina, through North Carolina, and spending the night in Virginia. We quickly passed through the mountains of West Virginia, narrowly escaping one of the largest snowstorms of recent years. We made it all the way to our new hometown of DuBois, PA on the second day of our trip, only to wake up to a beautiful (and cold) snowy day that dropped four inches as we unloaded all of our possessions from our U-Haul truck and trailer.
And now here we are in Derek's hometown of Blairstown, New Jersey, resting and decompressing after a very wild month. We look forward to celebrating the birth of our Savior here in the midst of our loving and supportive family.
It has been an adventure, for sure. More to come as we settle in to our new lives here in the Northeast.

Soap! Soap! Don't Forget the Soap!
This story is about a boy named Plug. He was very forgetful, and sometimes he forgot his own name! One time it was bathtime, but his mom didn't have any soap, so she sent Plug to the store to buy some soap. His mom told him, "Do not forget the soap." And he went on, saying to himself, "Soap! Soap! Don't Forget the Soap!"
He met some people along the way, and caused some trouble that took his mind off the soap. But when he reached the store, he remembered the soap and took it home. Plug's mom was happy, and he never forgot anything again.

Felicity in Washington, DC
Uncle Dave was travelling for work, and he went to Washington, DC. He took Felicity to Ford's Theater. Inside Ford's Theater, she saw the President's box, where the President would sit to watch something in the theater.

Kansas
From our friends in Kansas:
Hi Rachel,
Thank you for sending Felicity to our farm! We have been waiting for a sunny day to take pictures with her. We took her to a newly planted wheatfield, a milo field, a corn field, and a harvested corn field where our bulls are eating the stalks and corn that is left on the ground. We love the big, wide spaces of Kansas - especially the sunsets! The weather in the fall is usually cool and sunny, but this fall has been very cold and rainy. Nathan and Jacob are the 6th generation in our family to grow up and farm in Sterling.
We hope you have a wonderful time learning about the 50 states!

Goodbye Mississippi; Hello---Pittsburgh???
Today, we put together "Mississippi Mud Pie" to conclude this week's state study. We're still waiting for it to firm up in the freezer. Apparently there are many versions of this dessert. The name comes from the chocolate coating that can resemble the muddy Mississippi River.
We have also received the long-awaited photos from Felicity's visit to Grammy's in Pittsburgh! Looks like they had fun:
